Jeong Hae Joong//201003224//week3 1st draft//Tues. 11.am. class

201003224 Jeong Hae Jung

The last day of the year is always full of joy. 31st of December is like a day for celebration for coming year. When I watch TV, there is happiness in the air around the world and I can feel it. It even seems like firework and drink can't be separated away from the day. It is no exception for me.

In 2010, I was a freshman in HUFS. It was my first undergraduate year. There was one thing I really

wanted to do with my friends. It was to spend the last day of 2010 at the Korean belfry. In korea, there is a so meaningful event in the last day of year. It is to hear the bell-ringing. Most of the people watch television

for this, hearing and well-wishing.

So my so close friends since high school and I went to the belfry station at night on the last day of 2010.

There were already unimaginably many people around the belfry. Some concert was going on. It put me

in trouble to describe even now what it was like to be there. Just so much fun and full of hope was the

only thing I can tell.

Then, the last few seconds of 2010 were finally left. The year of 2011 was just around the corner. People

there loudly counted down the last ten seconds and then the bell rang. The year of 2010 was over and

the new year came. When the "happy-new-year" moment came, fireworks were firing over the sky. They were so terrific. It was like the world is a joyful ball. In the wide streets and intersections, instead of cars and buses, walking were the people.

My friends and I went around the downtown of Seoul for a pleasure, taking pictures, with chats. The next

thing we planned was "forget about everything and just drink" time. But there was problem. The thing was

the pubs were already crowded with people. We just managed to have a sit after going around 3 or 4

another pubs. Drinking and game was so exciting and time-flying. Karaoke was the last but not least thing to do and we just slept there after singing.

I still remember the last day of 2010 so vividly. There is also one thing I want to do this year.  As I and the

friends get older, it's hard to hang out together for military and military stuff. Two year passed in a row. But

this year is different. We are making a plan for this year to go to the belfry like 2010. What a fun. My face

reveals a big smile for just thinking about it!

(I don't know what's wrong with my email format, it cannot work well, sorry about it )

The first time I felt that I need a bodyguard was two years ago when I as a

language student came to study in Korea for the first time in my life. I have

not known Korean any more and I have been feared in a new country.

One day, I spotted two women in the subway station. They were taking two small

plastic bags with the church brochures in them. They walked up to me without

hesitation, and one of them spoke to me very passionately,"Hi, pretty girl!

Do you know more about Korea Church? We also have the video of Chinese version.

I'll show you now." But I do not care of the cultural of church, the only thinking

of mine was leaving here with impressive speed. Well, they stopped my escape

successfully because they gripped me as soon as possible. I was numb with fear.

My friend's call was rescued me then.

How can I to describe the moment they gripped me! One thing I know that my

friend is the angel who sent to watch over me.

Hanna / 201203934 /Week2 assignment / Tues.11am. class

Name: Hanna / 201203934 /Week2 assignment / Tues.11am. class

1. Write about a bad experience you have had with writing. How did this experience affect your attitude toward writing?

I do not like writing, especially English writing. My memories of my first English writing was quite boring and incredible. My English was such poor when I was a middle school student. One day, my teacher  had setting to write an assignment which was the most lovely one in my life. And I had wrote "Is it possible that I write it in Chinese,OK,I will give you amazing essay." Then, I had wrote all the following words in Chinese. I knew that I was became the butt of a joke to my classmates. They have hurt my pride, but I know failure is not a stranger to life. It can happen to anyone, because this failure, I will never give up on English writing and I call up all my courage on my writing. I believe that where there is a will,there is a way.

2. How do you feel about writing in your first language compared to writing in English?

Translating one language to another just like I am Chinese but after one second I am turned an American. I am raveling between two country but no train here. Even I am a little crazy because I always write something in Chinese but I write it in English suddenly. I can not understand how the languages can be wrote in one line. I become dizzy because my sprite finance ministers in America and China and I can not control it. Especially after I lived in Korea, I though that my mother tongue get worse, my friends always joking on my retrogressive Chinese. But I am not giving up and I enjoyed in translating although translating is quite hard.

3. When you are writing a paper for a class, do you try to please yourself or the teacher? Explain.

I have done both of the two. Writing to my self just a piece of cake. I have no pressure on it but I have check all of the grammars and vocabularies, etc. If write to the teacher, I have to the paper carefully in case the teacher's criticism. But write to the teacher has advantages. Firstly, the teacher can help me correct the mistakes. Secondly, the teacher can give me good suggestion for my paper. Thirdly, the teacher's criticism can always remind myself do not make the same mistakes. It will makes it better.
